All Japan Battodo Tournament (2006/10)
|
|
This
year Taikai was hosted in 2XX miles north of Tokyo. We
have woke up at 5:00am and travel for 4 hours by bus to Taikai venue. As usual, we had the training lesson and late
dinner in Sensei's home until mid-night. However, HK
team members didn't effect with short hours sleeping
and long journey. Michael won one gold and two slivers. Mr.
Kwok also won the gold medal in 1 Dan cutting match.(Photo_01, Photo_02) |

on marterial arts. One of their presenter (Mr. Li Ka)
is our student, that why they like to meet with our sensei

Jack
won his a gold medal of cutting match in his first
Japan tournament, that is very encouraging news for all
the Hong Kong Dojo members. With his stable cutting performance,
Jack went through 3 rounds of match without losing a single
cut to enter the final match.
LOK felt lucky to won the gold medal of cutting match (Rank
2&3), as On done a little mistake on the free style cutting
during the final match with LOK. The first cut of free style
cutting should be draw and cut without any stopping.
Anyway, the winning and losing isn't that importance issue,
if you are focusing on the improvement of your skill and performance

Test & TVB8 Interview (2005/10)

This
is Hataya Sensi's second visit within 6 months. During this
visit, He holds the ranking test and had a interview with
TV Channel. To maintain the high standard of cutting skill,
Hataya Sens's only allow the prefect cutting can be passed
on the ranking test. It only 2 students passed this time out
of 10. |

Program "80 Treasures in the world" (2005/09)

The
TV program "80 Treasures in the world" from BBC
was shown the Japanese sword as one of national treasures
in Japan. Although the Japanese sword making processing was
summarized in just 5 mins footage, it clearly show how hard
working of the sword smith. Also, the test cutting parts was
performed by the Chairman of Japan Battodo Association. |

We
hardly have chances to cut with the bamboo in lesson. Thanks
for Tse Yeung and Tse Fung donated a few bamboo sticks from
their backyard garden. We can try different styles cutting
with the bamboo including mat wrapping bamboo. I had saw
Grant Master Nakamura Taizaburo demonstrated this cutting
in the classic Japanese Martial Arts documentary video.
It isn't hard as I expect unless you can maintain the balance
of your power. Don't try to use too much power, Cut as usual,
that is the tips!

Swing a heavy stick in different cutting forms for 30 times
each and totally at least 150 times a day. You must do it

introduced the soft practice sword from US for fighting training,
that is a good training for reaction and moving target handling.
We are going to orded it and add the fighting training section
in HK Dojo. |
